Line of Research

HR-pQCT nas doenças reumáticas

Summary

The aim of this line of research is study the association between clinical and laboratory parameters with high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) findings in different rheumatic diseases. The HR-pQCT allows performing in vivo assessment of bone parameters. HR-pQCT assesses the trabecular thickness, trabecular separation, trabecular number, and connectivity density and, in addition, cortical bone density and thickness and total bone volume and density. Furthermore, the researcher has developed robust
techniques for assessing localized bone loss (bone erosion) and the presence of osteophytes in healthy individuals and patients with rheumatic diseases.
