Summary<\/h2>\n

Letran <\/strong>\u2013\u00a0a specialized laboratory for experimental research in the area of nerve repair and reconstruction. Implemented, standardized and validated an experimental spinal cord injury model in Wistar rats. Letran has a computerized drop weight impact tester (New York Impactor), to produce standardized and reproducible spinal contusions, developed by New York University, USA, and adopted by the Multicenter Animal Spinal Cord Injury Study \u2013 MASCIS, coordinated by Prof. Wise Young of Rutgers University, USA. Currently, it is developing new therapeutic techniques using stem cells, growth factors and tissue engineering. It is one of Cenatra\u2019s main advanced research facilities.\u00a0We are developing new ways to evaluate motor recovery in rats, developing devices for the rehabilitation of the rats to assess its importance in recovery from spinal cord injury, and we are entering into partnerships with other laboratories in order to continuously improve our research.<\/p>\n

Cenatra \u2013\u00a0Center of Reference for the Integrated Specialized Care of Spinal Cord Trauma. Line of work: Nuclear, multicenter, interinstitutional, multidisciplinary and multiprofessional program for medical, tertiary, quaternary and paramedical assistance for patients suffering from spinal cord trauma. It offers undergraduate and lato and stricto sensu graduate courses in basic and applied clinical and technological research, and training in technology, human resources, and guidance and dissemination of knowledge to the community. It also foresees offering pre- (prevention campaigns, etc.) and post-hospital (self-care, informal caregiver, socioeconomic re-inclusion, etc.) activities.<\/p>\n
